Inform is a programming language for interactive fiction. If you've ever played Zork you'll know what I mean. The language is based on 'natural language', essentially the english language we speak to one another. Here's an example from my own work:
"The 7th Floor Lobby is a room. It is east of the 7th Floor Corridor West 1. The description is "Your footsteps echo throughout the lobby as you enter it. The documents that were once neatly arranged on the counter of the nurses' station were now scattered haphazardly all over the floor, many of them soaking in puddles of blood. There are corridors leading away from the lobby in all four directions."
the severed arm is here. "Lying on the counter is a bloody severed arm. It seems to be a female left arm."
understand "arm" as the severed arm."
As you can see, it is perfectly understandable english (excuse the stong imagery; it's a horror game) , and yet you can compile the code and it will still work. Perhaps this might help those interested in creating games but are scared off by the prospect of having to learn programming.
